Getting in Touch — Common Questions
What to expect when you call, WhatsApp or send the enquiry form.
How quickly will you reply to my enquiry?
We aim to respond to every phone call, WhatsApp message and contact form enquiry within 24 hours, and usually far sooner during working hours (Mon–Fri 8:00–16:30, Sat 8:00–13:00). If your electrical problem is urgent — burning smells, tripping that won't reset, exposed cabling or a total loss of power — please call 01924 806 023 or 07815 914 305 rather than using the form, as we prioritise safety issues and will try to attend the same or next working day.
What happens after I submit the contact form?
Your enquiry comes straight to Jamie Knox. We read it, then either reply with the information you asked for or call you back to ask a few questions about the property, the age of the wiring and the access available. From there we either quote directly (for straightforward work such as extra sockets, a fuse board swap or a single EV charger) or book a free site survey where the job needs measuring up. Nothing is booked in and no one turns up until you've seen a written price and agreed to it.
Do you charge for quotes or site surveys?
No. Quotes and site surveys are free and carry no obligation. For EV charger installations the survey also confirms your incoming supply, earthing arrangement and cable route so the quoted price is the price you pay. The only time a charge applies is when you ask us to carry out actual diagnostic work — for example fault finding or an EICR inspection — because that is chargeable engineering time rather than a quotation.
Which areas do you cover from Wakefield?
We're based in Wakefield and work routinely across WF postcodes plus Leeds, Castleford, Pontefract, Normanton, Ossett, Horbury, Dewsbury, Batley, Morley, Rothwell and Barnsley — roughly a 30-mile radius. Commercial and data cabling projects are covered over a wider area of West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire; if you're just outside, call and ask, as we'll tell you honestly whether we can service the job properly.
Can I get a price over the phone?
For common jobs with a known scope we can give you a realistic ballpark on the call, and our published pricing pages show typical costs for rewires, consumer units, EICRs and EV chargers. What we won't do is guess a firm figure for work we haven't seen — an accurate fixed quote follows the survey or a few photographs sent over WhatsApp on 01924 806 023.
What information helps you quote faster?
Your postcode, the type of property and roughly when it was built, what you'd like doing, and any photos of the existing consumer unit, meter position or the wall where equipment needs to go. For EV chargers, telling us the car and where you park saves a call; for data cabling, the number of outlets and floor area gets you a much tighter price first time.
